Kate Eileen Jones Brown, 94, died April 29 in Greenville. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Greenville with Rev. Johnny Padalino and Rev. Randy Harville officiating and Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home in Greenville. Mrs. Brown was born in Evergreen, Ala., on Sept. 24, 1919. Her parents were Dr. Benjamin Franklin Jones and Katie Belle Tait Jones. She graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1941, where she was active in Baptist student activities and Kappa Delta sorority. She met Kermit Roosevelt Brown while at Auburn and they married there on March 28, 1943. She accompanied her husband to various Naval stations during WWII, including Brooklyn, N.Y. and San Diego, Calif. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenville, the Women’s Missionary Union, Garden Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Brown was a loving wife and homemaker and was employed as a teacher’s aide at the primary school in Greenville for many years. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Kermit Roosevelt Brown; her son, James Franklin Brown; and her sister, Mittie Jones Simms. She is survived by her son, Kermit Roosevelt Brown, Jr. (Mary Ann) of Monroeville, Ala.; her daughter, Eileen Brown Rogers (Mike) of Columbia, Ala.; her daughter-in-law, Dubar Minor Brown of Jackson, Miss.; five grandchildren, Franklin Brown, Allison Brown Montgomery, Olivia Rogers Harmon, Kathleen Rogers Cazenavette, and Michael Rogers; four great-grandchildren and a niece and nephew. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The First Baptist Church of Greenville home and foreign mission funds.
