Minnie Ruth Ledbetter

Minnie Ruth Ledbetter died April 2. She was born in Butler County, Ala., on Feb. 9, 1925. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lilly Mae Matthews; father, Tom Matthews; husband, Edward Madison Ledbetter; brothers, Roy Mosley, T.J. Matthews, Raybon Matthews, and Lamar Mathis. Ms. Ledbetter is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Thomas) Sweeney, Wetumpka, Ala., Barbara (Leroy) Thomas, Greenville, Ala., Shirley O’Connell, Prattville, Ala., and Dianne (Robert) Boggan, Millbrook, Ala.; sons, Edward Ledbetter, Jr., Greenville, Ala., Charles (Belinda) Ledbetter, Auburn, Ala.; sister-in-law, Frances Garner, Georgiana, Ala. She has 12 grandchildren, Neil (Melissa) Smith, Ashley (Billy) Ammons, Chris Thomas, Jennifer Thomas, Matthew (Melaine) Boggan, Amanda (Joel) Jackson, Matt (Kayla) Ledbetter, Micah Ledbetter, Kayla (Jonathan) Jordan, Daniel Ledbetter, Colin Sweeney, and Caitlin Sweeney. She has 15 great-grandchildren, Zach Smith, Alex Smith, Alison Henderson, Taylor Ammons, Tara Ammons, Drew Ledbetter, Brix Ledbetter, Laurel Jackson, Ella Jackson, Audrey Jackson, Minnie Jackson, Joel Norman Jackson, Courtney Ledbetter, Ace Jordan, and Noah Jordan. Ms. Ledbetter’s family is forever grateful for her unconditional sacrificial love. The family will receive friends April 4 from 6 p.m. until 8 pm. at Johnson Funeral Home in Georgiana. The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. on April 5 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Davis officiating. Her body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing arrangements.
