Heavy rains will drench much of Butler County today, bringing along with them the threat of flash flooding.
However, officials with the National Weather Service do not expect the storms to bring severe weather.
According to the NWS, numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms will continue across the region through the early afternoon. The risk for severe weather is low, however, locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds and small hail is possible with a few stronger storms.
The heavy rains may cause flash flooding in areas where storms repeatedly move over the same locations.
Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are forecast through tonight.
