Brantley hoops standouts earn all-star game invites

A trio of Brantley High School basketball standouts has been selected to take part in two all-star games.
Brantley High School’s Amahni Upshaw and Payton Burnett have been named to the South squad for the annual North-South all-star basketball game that will be held as part of Alabama All-Star Sports Week in July.
Both Burnett and Upshaw were also named to the AL.com’s Montgomery All-Metro team and the Alabama Sportswriters Association All-State team.
Burnett, who led the Lady Bulldogs to a second straight Class 1A state title was named AL.com’s Montgomery All-Metro Player of the Year, while Upshaw earned third-team honors.
Upshaw earned first-team honors on the ASWA team, while Burnett warned second-team honors.
Wesley Person, Jr. was selected to take part in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star basketball game, which will be held March 22 at Jackson State University in Jackson, Miss.
Person was named to the Alabama Sportswriters Association All-State team. He earned first-team honors.
