Crenshaw County Solid Waste Officer Robert White has but two messages for local residents – stop littering and trash pick-up is mandatory in this county.  White said this week that trash on the roadways has become a big problem in the county.  “Trash on the roadside – this has to stop,” he said. “We live here, so why would we accept this?” White encouraged residents to do their part to help alleviate the issue.  “A trash truck didn’t do this and you didn’t do this,” he said. “But it’s a joint effort, so let’s report criminal litter and do our part in keeping Crenshaw a little cleaner than we found it.” Additionally, White wants to remind residents that it is against the law not to have trash pick-up at home.  “Crenshaw County is a mandatory trash pick-up for household trash,” he said. If you do not have trash pick-up, please call or visit Advanced Disposal.”  Those found in violation of this law, are subject to citations and fines.  Additionally, White said it’s important that residents place their handle of their garbage cans away from the road.  To sign up, call 866-252-0458.
