A vehicle struck a six-year-old child on Snow Drive Thursday, making for the second such incident within Greenville in as many weeks.
Though the child was transported to L.V. Staler Memorial Hospital via private vehicle, no life threatening injuries were sustained.
“The preliminary investigation shows that speed was not a factor in this accident,” said Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden.
“The child was lying at the foot of a little hill, and when the car came up on the hill, the driver did not see the child on the other side. When he came down, he realized he’d run over something and stopped, and it was a child.”
Harden added that it is not yet known how the child came to be in such close proximity to traffic, as it is still an ongoing investigation.
“There are not any charges at this time,” Harden said.
“We’ve got to talk to some people, but the preliminary investigation shows that it was just another accident.”
