Teresa Ellis Carlton Bates, 86, a resident of Logan, Ala., passed away Feb. 16.  Mrs. Bates was the longtime proprietor of Bates House of Turkey.  The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m.  at Little Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bob Watts officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.  Burial will follow in Little Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.  Mrs. Bates is preceded in death by her husband, W. C. “Bill” Bates, Jr.; parents, Carnathan B. Carlton, Sr. and Teresa Hollan Ellis, and brother, C. B. Carlton, Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Jane Bates Dent (William H.) and Rebecca Bates Sloane (Paul) both of Logan, Ala.; three sons, W. C. Bates, III (Wanda) of Sandy Ridge, Ala., John Carlton Bates (Malinda), and Thomas LaHugh Bates (Mary) all of Logan, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers are Christopher C. Bates, Thomas C. Bates, John Allen Bates, Benjamin Jarvis Bates, William A. Bates and Dallas Michael Sloane.  Honorary pallbearers are nephews, C. B. Carlton, III and John Grey Carlton.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Little Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Cemetery Fund or Palmar Children’s Home, P.O.
