Caroline Taylor Steen

Caroline Taylor Steen, of Pine Apple, Ala., born Ann Caroline Dec. 3, 1924, in Butler, Ala., to Heyward Tresvant and Martha Bush Taylor, who preceded her in death; also preceding were brothers, Heyward and Greenberry, and sisters Cora Rose Fontan, Lucy Stricklin and Mary Colby.  She is survived by one brother, Edward Fisher Taylor.  She was married to Wiley Oliver Steen for 51 years until his death in 1997. She is survived by her three sons and their families: Wiley Oliver, Jr. and his wife, Edna Stallworth and their son, Wiley Scott and wife Heather Chamberlain and two children, Wiley Oliver III and Eloise Hudson; Robert Donald, Sr. and his wife, Sheila Dailey and their daughter Laura Elizabeth and her husband James Browder and son Robert Donald, Jr., and his wife Jill Agee and their children Taylor Lea, Kathryn Harper and Thomas Robert; and her youngest son, Timothy Heyward and many loving nieces and nephews, relatives and scores of devoted friends.  She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Pine Apple.  “Miss Caroline” was very active in social and political affairs as well as the DAR and UDC organizations.  Funeral services will be held at the Mount Moriah Fellowship Baptist Church, Mount Moriah Drive off Wilcox and Butler County Road 7 at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 with Rev. Willie Crawford officiating.  The body will lie in state an hour prior for visitation at the Mount Moriah Chapel.  Serving as pallbearers will be Haley Barbour, Stephen Colby, Taylor Colby, G.B. Taylor, Terry Guthrie and Scott Steen.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joseph M. Wilcox chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.
