Come October, there will be some unusual character roaming Commerce Street.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Trick-or-Treat on Commerce.
Local businesses and individuals alike will gather downtown to pass out candy and celebrate Halloween.
The event will be held on Oct. 31, the same night that Greenville High School plays Wilcox-Central High School in Camden and Fort Dale Academy and McKenzie School host to Wilcox Academy and Goshen High School, respectively.
“We are excited to trick-or-treat downtown again this year,” said Francine Wasden, executive director of the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s going to be an action-packed night with downtown festivities and football games. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy trick-or-treat downtown. Even if you plan to attend a football game you can come out and trick-or-treat for a little while before you head to the game.”
Wasden said the Chamber wanted to host the event again this year because it has proven to be a popular community event in the past.
“This is an event that is for everyone,” she said. “We invite all area businesses, kids and families to join us that Thursday night. We look forward to a good crowd and lots of fun.”
The event will start at 6 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.
Businesses or individuals interested in having a table along Commerce Street can contact the Chamber at 382-3251.
