Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary L. Simpson Crenshaw were held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. from New Bethel Christian Church. Elder Tommie L. Means officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville directed. Sis. Mary Lee Simpson Crenshaw was born June 22, 1930 in Butler County. Sis. Mary Lee Simpson She was born to the late Mr. Bill Simpson Jr. and the late Mrs. Jessie Lee Little Simpson. In 1951, she met and married the late Mr. Earlie Lewis and, to this union, Adelle, Willie Earl, Catherine, and Charles were born. In 1959, she met and married the late Mr. John S. Crenshaw Sr. and, to this union, John Jr., Calvin, Margaret and Terry were born. In addition, Robert Lee, Lue Francis, Johnnie Mae, Willie, Daisy, and Ethel Pearl bonded these families as one. Her two children, Catherine Lewis and Willie E. Crenshaw; grandchild, Percita Lewis; five sisters, Sara, Lula Mae, Earnestine, Clarine, and Leanna; two brothers, Commer and John D. Simpson, preceded her in death. Remembering her love and devoted life are 13 children, Adelle Lewis of Hampton, John S. Crenshaw Jr. of Montgomery, Willie Earl (Beaster) Lewis, Charles(Linda)Lewis, Calvin Crenshaw, Margaret Crenshaw and Terry Crenshaw, all of Greenville, Robert Lee (Jewel) Crenshaw, Philadelphia, Pa., Lue Francis Jenkins and Ethel Pearl McCarthy, both of Rochester, NY; Daisy (Alex) Morris of Lithonia, Ga.; Johnnie Mae Crosby and Bobbie Jean Walton, both of Georgia; two grandchildren, Tammie (Jeffery) Shepherd and Sedgrick (Tia) Lewis; six sisters, Lillie Hawthorne, Lois Gregory and Annie Davis, all of Greenville, Lue Helen Davis of Maryland, Ettrue General Majors of Mobile and Dorothy Darrington of Montgomery; three brothers, Willie Ezell Simpson and Joe Lee (Lue Nell) Simpson, both of Birmingham, and Percy (Florence) Simpson of Greenville; two brothers-in-law, L.S. (Pearlie, Ruth) Murphy of Prattville and Earnest Murphy of Mobile, sister-n-law Mamie Dunklin of Birmingham; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a devoted niece, Patricia Davidson, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
