A 22-year-old Greenville man was arrested and charged July 6 for a drive-by shooting at Susanna Ridge Apartments.
According to authorities, Tremayne Williams fired two shots into a vehicle parked at the apartments, narrowly missing an 11-month child that was in the backseat.
“The first bullet missed the child by inches,” Lt. Joey Disney said.
Williams has been charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
Lt. Justin Lovvorn said the incident stemmed from an argument over a woman, and that the intended victim was the father of the 11-month child.
“He had stepped out of the car for a second to run into his mother’s apartment, and had a cousin who was parked in a neighboring car looking after the child when the shooting occurred,” Lovvorn said. “When we arrived on the scene we talked to a couple of people who witnessed the incident and were able to talk with the intended victim. That helped us locate the suspect, and once we found him and got him back to the station, he confessed to firing the shots.”
Officers were also able to locate the pistol used in the shooting, which Williams had tossed out of his car.
