First Assembly hosting benefit for Lide family

A benefit for John Lide will be held Sunday at First Assembly of God.
Lide, a longtime Greenville resident was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and adenocarcinoma in August of 2012. He began chemotherapy treatments the same month.
Earlier this month it was determined that Lide had become to weak to continue chemotherapy and treatments were stopped, according to Lane Simmons, pastor at First Assembly of God.
The benefit, which will begin at 6 p.m., will feature singing and a cake auction.
All the proceeds from the benefit will be donated to the Lide family.
A fund for Lide has also been set up at First Citizens Bank in Greenville, and donations can be made at any time.
