Zelna Perdue Cates Fail

Zelna Perdue Cates Fail was born July 2, 1916, and died Nov. 9, 2012.  Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Spring Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Dean and Rev. Allan Winn officiating.  Burial followed in Perdue Cemetery with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. She was preceded in death by her parents Zell Payton Perdue and Francis (Fannie) Estelle Andress Perdue, her brothers Clady Perdue, Joe Perdue, Willie George Perdue, a sister-Edna Perdue Gray whom she was guardian of her  children Ricky and Debbie, her husbands Bill Cates, who she was married to for 44 years and Rastus Fail, who she was married to for 15 years.  She is survived by her brother; Bruce Raymond Perdue (Louise – deceased) and family, his sisters; Melba Perdue Newton (Larry) and family and Jeanette Perdue McVay (Wayne and family); sister-in-law; Freddie Perdue, Bettie Perdue and Aubrey Cates McGough and their families.  Also surviving are Edna’s children; Ricky Gray (Lisa who is deceased) and his family, Tiffany Gray Thomas (Chris) and children Marley, Gray and Emma, Lacy Gray Huggins (Griffin) and children Keller and Kullen, Debbie Gray Brock (Billy) and her family, Mark (April) Hall and their children, Kayla, Kelsey, Kyle, Marcy Hall and children Hunter, Paula and Robert,  Payton (Sandra) Hall and children Andrew and Amelia, Shawn Hall DeShazo (Rex) and children, Zach and Lane,  Stacy Brock Veazey (Renny), and children Whitney & Jessie, Tracy Brock Olson (Toni) and child Brenton.  She is also survived by the Cates family and special friends Martha Skipper and Wanda Newton and Mrs. Zelna’a sister, MeMaw.   She was a faithful Christian and member of Spring Creek Baptist Church, where she was very active in the church choir and W.M.U. and Butler County Homemaker’s Club.  She loved the gospel singings especially the Saturday Night Singings.  She was a member of the Butler County Singers.  She especially loved going to the Friday morning singing for the nursing home.  The family would especially like to thank her friends of the Butler County Singers, her church family-whom she loved deeply, Dr. Knau Patel and his staff who treated her diligently with love and respect who she loved as part of her family, the nurses and staff of Stabler’s Hospital. The family will forever be grateful and hold a special place for each of you for all you did for our special “sister”.  Words will never express what gratefulness and love we have for you for all you did to help us during this time.  Also thanks to Bro.
