Municipal elections set for Tuesday

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday to decide the winners of several municipal races throughout Butler County.
In Georgiana and McKenzie, voters will elect new mayors.
Georgiana Mayor Mike Middleton was unseated in the August election when Jerome Antone and Larry Creech received 117 and 109 votes, respectively.
McKenzie Mayor Melvin Shufford was also defeated in August’s election.
Either Bill Henry or Lester Odom will serve as McKenzie’s next mayor. Henry received 47 votes and Odom received 61.
In Greenville Bryan Reynolds and Jerry Myers will square off for the District 1 seat on the city council. Reynolds garnered 168 votes in the August election, while Myers received 144 votes. Keith Gibson received just 68 votes, and was eliminated from the race.
Georgiana’s District 4 will also have a new representative. Clementine Pugh and Valerie Pettway are vying for the seat. Pugh garnered 34 of the votes, while Pettway received 25.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
