Brantley-Highland Home match highlights this week’s games

This week, Brantley and Highland Home square off, and Brantley has a chance to win what I’ll call the Crenshaw County Cup for lack of a better term.

The Bulldogs beat Luverne earlier this year, and this would make them 2-0 against in-county opponents.  I’m not sure what I’d call it if Highland Home wins, but we’ll cross that bridge if we come to it.

Brantley at Highland Home

The Squadron will be the toughest team Brantley has seen since Luverne in Week 1.  HHS has fought through some tough games in the last couple of weeks, but I think the Bulldogs will be too much.

The HHS-Luverne game was the most physical game I’ve seen all year. If the Squadron play like that, it’ll be tight, but I expect Brantley to rise to the challenge.

Highland Home is a much-improved team since the last meeting between the two in 2009, so I look for an entertaining game.

Brantley 36, Highland Home 20

Luverne at Pike Co.

These two teams are familiar with each other since this used to be a region matchup.  With Luverne’s injuries, it’ll be tough, but I’m going with them.

Luverne 27, PCHS 20

CCA vs EMCA

East Memorial doesn’t look like an intimidating team, but CCA has had a number of disappointing showings this year.  I hope this isn’t another one.

CCA 40, EMCA 13

Last week: 4-0

Overall: 13-2
