A Butler County man was found dead in Covington County Thursday night.

Covington County Sheriff Dennis Meeks said Donnie Earl Bone, 48, of Greenville, was found dead in a field in Sanford shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday.

Meeks said his office has identified two persons of interest in the case.

“First, we want people to know that we believe this was something between two people,” Meeks said. “Residents should not be alarmed.”

No arrests have been made, but authorities are interviewing the persons of interest.

Bone’s body was found on Old Dragstrip Road just off Airport Road in Covington County by a man hunting wild hogs.

Investigators with the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, the Andalusia Police Department and the Alabama State Troopers are investigating the case.
