Provisional ballots for the City of Greenville’s municipal election were tallied Tuesday, upping one candidate’s vote total, but failing to change the election’s results.
Keith Gibson received two additional votes once the provisional ballots were added to bring his total to 68 votes.
Registered voters who had moved or were on the voting lists in the wrong district cast provisional ballots in the Aug. 28 election.
Their ballots were sealed inside of two envelopes with their registration information visible only to the Board of Registrars.
The registrars then determined if the vote should be counted. Once a vote was determined to be a legal vote, the ballots were sent back to the city to be tallied.
The final, certified returns, were as follows.
District 1
Bryan Reynolds – 144
Jerry Myers – 124
Keith Gibson – 68
Mayor Dexter McLendon and councilmen Ed Sims (District 2), Tommy Ryan (District 3), James Lewis (District 4) and Jeddo Bell (District 5) were all unopposed in the election.
All five were declared duly elected by a resolution adopted on July 23.
