An ATV accident has left one Georgia man dead after his four wheeler hit a ditch and flipped over on Saturday.

Richard L. Whitworth, 42, was visiting the area and was driving the ATV near Welcome Church Road around 6:30 p.m., according to Butler County Sheriff Harden.

“He lost control, hit a ditch and the four wheeler flipped over on him and he was pronounced at the scene,” Harden said.

Because Welcome Church Road is a public road, Alabama State Troopers worked the scene.

“He was riding by himself on the four wheeler,” Harden said. “That’s one reason to keep off these roads with four wheelers. Four wheelers were not designed to be on these roads.”
