McKenzie mayor’s race headed for runoff

McKenzie voters will have to go to the polls again to decide who will be the town’s next mayor.
On Oct. 9 voters will be deciding between candidates Bill Henry and Lester Odom. Henry received 47 votes and Odom received 61.
Kevin Henry received 14 votes in the mayor’s race, while Mickeal Rodgers and incumbent Mayor Melvin Shufford received 8 and 41 votes, respectively.
For the District 1 seat, Greg Lampley, Sr. will be serving another term on the council after receiving 34 votes and Betty Brown will be serving her first term after winning District 2 with 71 votes.
In District 1, Becky Stewart received 14 votes and Annette Merritt tallied 13 votes. In District 2, Shawnee Pierce received 21 votes, Lori Brown tallied 12 votes and Glenda Kervin garnered seven votes.
