Approximately 150 people attended the first ever Community Fun Day on Aug. 11.

Marcus Mickles, a representative of Bruthas to Brothers, the organization that sponsored that sponsored the event, said it was a “huge success.”

“We had a lot of support from the community,” he said. “The kids really enjoyed all the games and activities.”

Mickles said the event was organized as a way for the Bruthas to Brothers to give back to the community. Giving back is exactly what it did.

Thanks to donations from individuals and area businesses, the organization was able to give school supplies to children in attendance.

“We had just enough for all the kids that came,” Mickles said. “We’re very thankful for all the individuals and businesses that donated school supplies. The kids were very appreciative.”

The event featured games, face painting, free food and a visit from the Greenville Fire Department.

“The fire department coming was definitely a highlight for the kids,” Mickles said. “A lot of them really enjoyed touring the truck and meeting the firemen.”

Mickles said the organization plans to make the Community Fun Day an annual event.

“We’re absolutely going to do it again,” he said.
