Keith Gibson has announced his intent to seek election to the Greenville City Council.
Gibson is seeking the District 1 seat. Incumbent Dr. Jean Thompson is not seeking re-election.
He will face Bryan Reynolds and Jerry Meyers in the Aug. 28 election.
“I was born and raised here in Greenville and I’m proud to tell people about my town and what makes Greenville a great place to live and raise a family,” Gibson said. “Greenville has grown so much over the years and I want to see our city continue to grow.”
Gibson said he will make recruiting new businesses to the area a priority if elected.
“I want to see Greenville continue to recruit more businesses and industrial plants so more that more jobs can be available for the citizens of Greenville and Butler County,” he said. “Growth is vitally important to keeping Greenville strong economically and to maintain services for its future.”
Gibson, who works in the accounting department for the Alabama Department of Transportation, is married to Melinda Rogers Gibson. The couple has four children. He is a 1985 graduate of Greenville High School and is a member of First Baptist Church.
