Byron Ward has announced his intent to seek re-election for the Georgiana City Council.
Ward, who is seeking the District 5 seat, has served on the council for one term.
“I still think I have a lot of good ideas and can move Georgiana forward and make it a better community,” Ward said. “I’ve got young children so I’m invested and interested that we try and grow and become a better community.”
Ward said he has been a part of helping the town become more fiscally responsible, creating a new design of the city flag, installing a water tower and addressing infrastructure issues in the community.
If re-elected, Ward would like to see and push for more businesses opening near the four-lane highway that is being built through Georgiana.
“It is a critical time for Georgiana with the four-lane (highway),” Ward said. “We have had a couple of new businesses (locate in Georgiana), and that’s one of my key things, but also addressing the infrastructure issues with the roads.”
The municipal election will be held Aug. 28.
