BCHS seeking photos for calendar

The Butler County Humane Society helps animals every day, and now the group is asking for a little help from the community.

This annual fundraiser not only allows community animals to be displayed in a 12-month calendar but also raises money for the Humane Society.

“We all know how much Americans love their pets, both mixed breeds and purebreds, and people love to decorate their walls with calendars showing adorable dogs, cats, and other animals,” BCHS member Annie Crenshaw said.

Each photo submission is $5 and there is no limit on how many photos can be submitted. The money raised from the calendar goes toward things like medical care, vaccinations, spaying and neutering, foster-home adoption expenses, health care maintenance items and daily supplies like pet food, leashes, towels, blankets and collars.

Three photos will be selected for the front of the calendar and the runners up will be put into a collage on the rest of the months.

“We also welcome your stories of rescues, shelter-adopted pets and unusual pets, as well as memorials to pets you’ve loved and lost,” Crenshaw said.

Photos and payment with a completed entry form can be sent to P.O. Box 264, Greenville, Ala. 36037 or email SusannaGaston@att.net.

The entry form can be mailed or emailed or can be picked up at the Shell Depot on Fort Dale Road, Mann & Associates CPA, Herb Morton at Met Life, the Greenville Animal Shelter or from any Humane Society member.

The deadline for submissions is July 31.

For more information contact Gaston at 453-0769 or Crenshaw at 334-382-6959.

“It’s fun, it’s interesting, it raises money for a much-needed animal welfare group, and those of us working on it put our hearts and souls into it,” Crenshaw said.
