James Lewis has announced his intent to seek re-election for the Greenville City Council.
Lewis, who is seeking the District 4 seat, has served on the council for 28 years.
“I’ve served as a councilman for a number of years,” Lewis said. “In that time, I have gained a great deal of valuable experience in city government and how to serve the citizens of District 4 and the City of Greenville.”
During Lewis’ tenure on the council, Greenville has been able to attract a number of businesses to the area, including Hwashin America, Hysco America, CorStone Industries and Super Walmart. Lewis also had a hand in bringing The Edge, an eight-screen movie theater, to Greenville.
“I am happy to be a part of the progress that has been and is still being made to make Greenville a better place to live for our citizens and friends,” he said.
Lewis has also worked to secure grants that helped improve housing in District 4, spearheaded an effort to have more than 500 feet of ditch in District 4 filled in, and helped get Dunbar Center air conditioning.
“If I am re-elected, I will continue to work for a better quality of life for the citizens of District 4 and Greenville,” Lewis said.
The municipal election will be held Aug. 28.
