A Forest Home man is dead after he crashed his car during a Friday night police chase.

At approximately 9 p.m. on Friday, the Greenville Police Department received a call from the Fort Deposit Police Department stating that officers were in pursuit of 37-year-old Reginald Posey on Hwy. 185 heading toward Greenville.

The pursuit began after a victim explained to a Fort Deposit officer that Posey had pulled out a gun and waved it around, Greenville Police Department Lt. Justin Lovvorn said.

The victim provided a description of Posey and his vehicle and when a Fort Deposit Police Department officer attempted to pull over Posey, he refused.

“We had a unit that was sitting at that intersection at 185 and 263 observing when he came by, and came by at a high rate of speed,” Lovvorn said. “The Fort Deposit unit was still chasing and continued following him to town.”

Posey lost control of his vehicle on a curve near White Oak Golf Course on Hwy. 185 and collided head on with another vehicle.

“He lost control and went sideways and hit another vehicle head on and was basically killed in the wreck,” Lovvorn said.

The two occupants of the vehicle Posey struck suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital.

Posey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Capt. Gary Martin and Officer Tommy Anderson of the Greenville Police Department investigated the accident.
