A nearly six-month long operation by the Second District Judicial Task Force resulted in the arrest of 29 individuals on drug-related charges.
“This is the result of good work by the Task Force, which works very hard to eradicate drug use and distribution in Butler and Crenshaw counties,” Greenville Police Chief Lonzo Ingram said.
Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden said the Task Force took a different approach to its latest roundup.
“We normally have a mass roundup where we get a bunch of folks together and go out and pick up as many as we can in one day,” he said. “This time we started at the first of the year and picked them up as we came across them and that seemed to work well. When we did it the other way, we’d always have eight or 10 that would skip the county because they’d find out we were out picking folks up. This way they didn’t know who we were coming for.”
The roundup was a joint effort between the Greenville Police Department, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, the McKenzie Police Department and the Georgiana Police Department.
