A McKenzie man remains in critical condition following a three-vehicle accident Friday night on Ala. Hwy. 55.

The accident occurred at the 42-mile marker near Red Level, when Antonio “Tony” Presley, 34, suffered life-threatening injuries after being ejected from his vehicle. Presley was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., according Alabama State Trooper reports.

Sheriff Dennis Meeks said Monday that Presley, was traveling southbound in a 1991 Chevy when the vehicle crossed the center line and sideswiped two vehicles headed back from a Florida beach trip.

“From what it appeared from the looks of the road, Mr. Presley crossed into their lane, sideswiped the vehicles and then flipped several times,” Meeks said. “Those in the other vehicles – two families from Kentucky traveling together and headed back home – were OK, thankfully.”

The drivers of the other vehicles – identified as Joe Greenslate of Southshore, Ky., and Lindsey Moore of Catlettsburg, Ky., – as well as the vehicles’ occupants, suffered minor injures due to flying glass.

Meeks said copious amounts of debris littered the roadway, causing traffic to be rerouted for at least two hours.
