Businesses across Butler County will soon have the opportunity to learn how to better serve their customers.

Alabama Industrial Development Training, along with the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting a free customer service training workshop Thursday.

“We want to be the exit of choice,” said Executive Director Francine Wasden. “When you start talking about customer service and people getting off the interstate, we would like for all of our citizens to take advantage of it so people stop and leave feeling good about their purchase, and talking about how wonderful we are.”

AIDT will be providing material and information to anyone interested in learning how to develop better customer service in the retail and food service industries.

Wasden said the community can expect training in how to communicate with customers and meeting the expectations of the customer.

“It will help businesses find out what their customers want. It’s sometimes hard to understand what someone is really looking for,” Wasden said.

“Sometimes it’s going to be a simple issue where the customer is right and you just say ‘thank you, yes’ and go along with them. (AIDT) just really focuses on workforce development and having good employees and training good people for the jobs that we have.”

The training will be at the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday from 9-11 a.m. For more information, contact the Chamber at (334) 382-3251.

AIDT’s mission is to provide quality workforce development for Alabama’s new and expanding businesses, and to expand the opportunities of its citizens through the jobs these businesses create. AIDT is a division of the Alabama Department of Commerce and encourages economic development through job-specific training.
