Elbert Lee Crook, age 85, passed away at his home on May 30, 2012. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at New Bethel Cemetery (County Road 7) in Braggs, AL. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 31st from 6-8 p.m.at Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home in Greenville, AL. Elbert Crook was the youngest and last surviving child of Jacob Arthur Crook and Susan Hamilton Favor Crook. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sue Harrison Crook and three daughters, Becky (Melvin) Blackmon, Linda (Henry) Lynn, and Martha Matthews. Elbert has four grandchildren, Morris (Julie) Lowery, Susan (Jason) Broadway, Jennifer (Jake) Frith, and James (Kathi) Green. He has eight great grandchildren, all of which he loved dearly. Elbert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was the honorary Mayor of Fostoria, the founder of Camp Creek Hunting Club and one of the founders of Lowndes Academy. Elbert was an active member of the Farmersville United Methodist Church. He retired from the State of Alabama, ABC Board and was a cattle farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Elbert was an animal lover and he shared his later days with Tiny and Honey, his miniature dachshunds. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Lowndes Academy, P.O.
