Bill Murray Simms

Bill Murray Simms was born in Mobile, Alabama, on April 22, 1927, and died on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 after a battle with cancer.
Visitation will be at the Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home from 9:30 A.M. to 10:25 A.M. on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
A graveside service will follow at the Magnolia Cemetery at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Dr. Dean Moore and the Reverend Joseph W. Lisenby officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Simms was preceded in death by his parents Otha and Mary Simms and a grandson Corey Lee Simms. Survivors include his wife Ann Barrett Simms, one son Lee Simms (Roseanne) of Greenville, Al, two granddaughters Stephanie Simms Crouch (Wallace) of Newnan, GA, and Tiffany Simms of Greenville, AL, one great-grandson Nolan Sumter Crouch of Newnan, GA, one brother Edward D. Simms of Jackson, MS, two nieces Suzanne B. Heflin and Nancy B. Clark of Petal, MS.
After spending 52 years in banking, he retired in 2000. His last years were spent at the First National Bank of Greenvillewhich later merged with Whitney National Bank of New Orleans, LA. During his retirement years he enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
Mr. Simms was active in church, community and civic organizations to include the following: Chairman of the Church Council and the Board of Trustees at the First United Methodist Church of Greenville, President of the Greenville Rotary Club, Chairman of the Butler County Economic Development Commission, President of the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, President of the Greenville Country Club, Vice Chairman and CEO of the First National Bank of Greenville and the First National Bancorp, and Butler County Chairman of Whitney National Bank.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to The First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 555, Greenville, AL 36037 or to a favorite charity.
