The Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking shutterbugs.

The Chamber is looking for individuals in the community to enter into a photo contest that portrays a variety of structures, landmarks and memorable locations in Butler County or Greenville.

“We just wanted to have some input from the community from its eyes of what the community looks like,” Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Francine Wasden said.  “We seem to be using the same pictures of The Ritz and downtown and what not, but sometimes people see things differently whether it be from a different position or time of the day.”

The owner of the “Best in County” photo that wins will be awarded $100 as well as the opportunity to have his or her photos displayed in the Chamber of Commerce magazine, on its Web site and possibly on a T-shirt, Wasden said.

Black and white and color photos are accepted in a variety of sizes for the contest that has a deadline of May 31. Individuals will also have the opportunity to submit as many photos as he or she likes.

The contest is open to all age groups, but professional photographers are not allowed to participate.

“We’re not going to be able to give the photos back to them,” Wasden said.

“We’re allowed to use them in our publications or when promoting Greenville.”

Those interested in participating can contact the chamber at (334) 382-3251.

“We just want to have the community’s input on these pictures rather than just take the same pictures every time,” Wasden said.
