Mr. and Mrs. David Joseph McDaniel of Atlanta announce the engagement of their daughter Lucy Ellen McDaniel to James Conyers Poole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Poole III of Greenville.

Miss McDaniel is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Vernon Johnston Hendrix, Jr. of Atlanta, and Mr. and Mrs. Max Earl McDaniel of Jackson, Miss. She is a graduate of The Westminster Schools in Atlanta and graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 2010 with a bachelor of science degree from Peabody College. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and is currently employed by Brasfield & Gorrie in Birmingham.

Mr. Poole is the grandson of Mrs. Robert Paul Weiss, Jr. and the late Mr. Weiss of Montgomery, and Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Calvin Poole of Greenville. He is a graduate of Fort Dale Academy and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2009 with a bachelor of arts degree in economics and finance. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and is currently employed by Accretive Health in Birmingham.

The wedding will take place on June 23 at Second- Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta.
