Council appropriates $10,000 to YMCA Parks and Rec Board

The City of Greenville approved the appropriation of $10,000 to the YMCA Public Parks and Recreation Board.

The money will be used to provide funding for the board’s annual audit and the renewal of property and liability insurance premiums with the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation.

The board will pay Branum & Branum Company $1,930 for the audit, while the renewal of the insurance premiums will cost $7,738.48.

“The YMCA Board oversees the operation of the property, which all belongs to the City, but the day-to-day operations of the YMCA are handled by the Montgomery YMCA,” City Clerk Sue Arnold said. “The buildings, the pool and all the property belong to the City, so it’s very important that we have them insured, and because the board comes under the city it is required to be audited each year.”

υThe Greenville City Council reappointed Steve Harmon to the Planning Commission.

υThe Council voted to move its May 28 meeting to May 29 due to the Memorial Day holiday.
