Authorities say the recent arrest of three Wilcox County men by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office has closed nine burglary investigations.

Lavangelo James Fields, 22, and Tevin Javon Pettway, 19, were arrested Tuesday and charged with five counts of burglary. A 17-year-old juvenile was also arrested and charged with burglary and theft of property, second degree. A fourth suspect remains at large.

According to Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden, the four men broke into Myrick’s Grocery on April 21 at approximately 11 p.m. and stole cigarettes, beer, liquor and a gun. The value of the items taken totaled approximately $2,500.

“They had video of it and it was four males,” Harden said. “We were able to get the video and identify one of them, and we came to find out that they are all from Wilcox County.”

After being arrested, the three men confessed to a February robbery of Crocker’s Grocery.

After further investigation into the case, authorities were able to solve five burglary cases in Butler County, three in Marengo County and one in Wilcox County.

Harden said it is still an ongoing investigation.
