A dispute over a motorcycle led to a Butler County woman being shot in the head Friday night.

Kenneth Morgan, 30, has been arrested and charged with first-degree assault and first-degree criminal mischief after shooting Melissa Ward in the head at approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday on Sandcutt Road.

According to Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden, Morgan had left a motorcycle at the Sandcutt Road location to be repaired. After Morgan failed to pick the motorcycle up after some time, Ward and the other owners of the location sold the motorcycle.

“He had a motorcycle over there, and he wanted his motorcycle back, and it had been sold,” Harden said.

That led Morgan to drive his car onto the front lawn ramming it into a parked Ford Mustang and then proceeded to fire his gun toward the house.

“(The bullet) hit her in the head,” Harden said. “He left the scene and went to Sherling Lake Road and wrecked his vehicle. We arrested him there.”

Ward was transported to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.

“The bullet didn’t go deep in her head,” Harden said.
