McKenzie redraws districts

The Town of McKenzie has redrawn its district lines.
The new districts were approved at Monday’s Town Council meeting.
According to Town Clerk Tina Powell there was discussion of dividing McKenzie into three districts, but in the end, town officials decided on just two districts with minor changes to the previous districts.
District 1 will start at the point where North Garland Road intersects the north town limit line, run thence along North Garland Road to Sellers Street, run thence along Sellers Street to the point where a power line crosses Sellers Street, run thence along the power line to South Garland Road, run thence east along South Garland Road to Lee Street, run thence along Lee Street to Hartley Street, run thence along Hartley Street to the town limit line, thence follow the town limit line east, south, east, southwest, northeast, south, east, north, west, north, west, north, west, north, west, north, west, north, east, south, and thence east to the point of beginning.
District 2 will start at the point where North Garland Street intersects with the north town limit line, run thence along North Garland Street to Sellers Street, run thence along Sellers Street to a point where a power line crosses street, run thence along the power line to South Garland Road, run thence east along South Garland Street to Lee Street, run thence along Lee Street to Hartley Street, run thence along Hartley Street to the town limit line, run thence east, north and west along the town limit line to the point of beginning.
Qualification for the city election will be July 3-17. To run, an individual has to live in town for at least 90 days with Aug. 28 as the Election Day. Nov. 5 will be the first day in office for the newly elected members.
