The Butler County Humane Society is ready for people to put on their party hats all in the name of charity.

The Humane Society is hosting the third annual Dog-u-tante Ball and Cat-sino Night at Cambrian Ridge on March 3.

The event is the biggest fundraiser for the Humane Society throughout the year. Last year’s event raised approximately $4,200.

“Dog-u-tante Ball is a fun and exciting event, and a chance to dress up, eat and enjoy an evening of unusual festivities for Greenville as well as help the animals in our community,” Humane Society treasurer Meredith Mann said. “There’s food, gaming, a silent auction, a live auction, and of course information on adopting a furry friend.”

The event will start at 6 p.m. with heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. At 7 p.m., the gaming will begin along with a silent auction.

“The National Association of Women in Construction from the Montgomery Chapter provides casino-type gaming where the participants may play blackjack, roulette and easy-gaming for chips,” Mann said.

At 9 p.m., the dealers count the participants chips and the participant receives a voucher for the value of their winnings, Mann said.

The voucher will be separate from the auction for prizes that were donated from local businesses.

“Our business community has really stepped forward to support us with some great donated items for both our silent and live auctions,” Mann said.

The event is to raise money for the Humane Society, but more specifically, the “Second Chance” animal shelter.

‘We are committed to offering alternatives to euthanizing adoptable pets, and work to find permanent adoptive homes for the cats and dogs who come into our care,” Mann said.

“We sponsor spay/neuter programs and assist with spay/neuter surgery costs for pet owners who cannot afford those expenses.”

Reservations are $35 per person and can be made by sending a check to the Butler County Humane Society at P.O. Box 264, Greenville, Alabama 36037.

“Where else are you going to have delicious food, casino-type gaming, silent and live auctions, and most likely leave with a great prize all for $35 per person,” Mann asked. “It’s the most reasonable, most fun and most cause-worthy deal in town.”
