Ruby Mae Hicks Morrow

Ruby Mae Hicks Morrow, age 94, resident of Columbus, GA,  passed peacefully in her sleep at home, surrounded by her daughter, her daughter’s fiancé,’ and her eldest granddaughter.  The family will receive friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 5-8 p.m.  Funeral services will then be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Georgiana, AL on Saturday, February 25, 2012, 2 p.m. with the family receiving friends prior to the service from 12 noon till 2 p.m.  Interment will follow at Morrow School House Cemetery, Georgiana, AL.  Mrs. Morrow was born at home and raised in Georgiana, AL.  It was there that she met, fell in love with, and married a local farm boy, Willie Mac Morrow in 1941.  Her husband subsequently spent 27 years in the U.S. Army, with the majority of his stateside duty at Fort Knox, KY. And Fort Benning, GA., where he retired in 1969.  Ruby held several jobs outside the home while her husband was stationed overseas, eventually retiring from K-Mart.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Willie Mac Morrow; a brother, Alvin Middleton of Saraland, AL; and her son, William Morrow of Huntsville, AL.  Mrs. Morrow is survived by one daughter, Jackland “Jackie” Jones and her fiance’ Sam Weekley of Columbus; one brother, Jeptha Middleton and his wife Margie of Saraland, AL; two granddaughters, Lori Nobles of Montgomery, AL and Megan Young and her husband Paul of Huntsville, AL; four great-grandchildren, Lauren, Nick, Angel, and Grayson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  Condolences may be offered at www.shcolumbus.com.
