“After processing the scene, and talking with the witnesses that were in the house at the time, we’ve classified the shooting as an accident,” Lovvorn said.

According to Lovvorn, Demario Jackson was playing with a pistol that was equipped with a laser sight. He removed the pistol’s magazine, but did not check the gun’s chamber. He then pointed the pistol at his sister and pulled the trigger discharging the weapon and shooting his sister.

“After taking all the witnesses down to the station and talking with them separately, there was no reason to believe this was anything, but an accident,” Lovvorn said.
