The Greenville Area Jaycees are seeking nominations for the John D. Murphy Citizen of the Year.
Nominees must be a resident of the Greenville school district and active in the community.
“We’re looking for people who have helped the community progress,” Jaycee Ben Norman said.
The deadline for nominations is Jan. 18.
The award will be presented Jan. 26 at the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce Member Banquet. It was established in memory of John D. Murphy by his wife, Susan Murphy, with the help of the Jaycees, to honor individuals who volunteer their time to help the community.
Murphy died in a drowning accident in the mid-1990s.
Last year’s Citizen of the Year was Richard Branum.
