MONTGOMERY – Greenville native Jim Hattaway was recently awarded the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ top education designation.
Hattaway, Insurance Examinations Supervisor for the Alabama Department of Insurance (ALDOI), was recognized for achieving Senior Professional in Insurance Regulation during the fall meeting of the NAIC. The Senior Professional in Insurance Regulation designation is awarded to regulators who have completed experiential activities and coursework in the area of regulatory leadership. Only four regulators in the U.S. have earned the SPIR designation.
“It is an honor to have had the opportunity to earn this designation recognizing the work that I have done with the ALDOI and the NAIC over the past 21 years.” Hattaway said. “The support of the Insurance Commissioner, the ALDOI, and NAIC staff allowed me to complete the necessary coursework and obtain the experience required to meet the requirements for this designation.”
Hattaway represents the State of Alabama as a member of various working groups and task forces with the NAIC and serves as Chairman of the Risk Focused Surveillance Working Group and the Anti-Money Laundering Subgroup.
Hattaway is the son of Leon and Barbara Hattaway and is a 1985 graduate of Greenville High School and 1988 graduate of Troy University.
