Residents of Butler County who ring in the New Year with a new baby could win The Greenville Advocate’s “First Baby of the New Year” contest.

The winner will receive a gift basket with items from area businesses and Butler County’s New Year’s Baby will appear on the front page of The Greenville Advocate.

The winning baby must:

  • Be born to parents who are permanent residents of Butler County. (Parents must show proof of residency.)
  • Parents must be the first to contact the Advocate with certification of time of birth, confirmed in writing by certified hospital personnel. Contact the Advocate at 382-3111 or, if the birth occurs when the office is closed, call 382-3111 and enter extension 130. Leave a message with the child’s name, sex, parents’ names and local telephone number and the time and date of birth.
  • Callers must bring documentation, including the date and time of birth, to the office within 48 hours of the start of the next business day. After that time, if a second person has called and subsequently brings in information in the next 24 hours, that person will be the winner.
  • In case of twins, one gift basket will be awarded to the parents.
