Mona “Marsha” Kervin Mixon

Mona “Marsha” Kervin Mixon, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011.  She is survived by her daughters, Amy Elizabeth Mixon of New Orleans, LA and Ashley M. (Scott) Shill of Atlanta, GA; her sister, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Rowell of Montgomery; her brothers, John Howard (Voncile) Kervin of Georgiana, Rufus Edward (Annette) Kervin of Geneva, James Wheeler (Barbara) Kervin of Hope Hull and Cosby Isaac (Jeanna) Kervin of Fitzpatrick; nine nephews and one niece.  Ms. Mixon was born at home in McKenzie, AL on Christmas Day, 1946.  She graduated from Troy State in 1969 with a BS in Mathematics and was an employee of the State of Alabama from 1969 until October 2001.  She retired from the Department of Finance as a Senior Information Technology Specialist.  Since her retirement, she volunteered at Baptist Medical Center East.  Her passions included gardening and her beloved pets.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home from 4 – 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 10: 00 a.m.  She will be laid to rest beside her parents, James H. and Lucile F. Kervin,  at Macedonia Cemetery on County Road 45 (McKenzie Grade Road) on Monday December 19, 2011 at 2:30 p.m.  Active pallbearers will be: Burt Rowell, Mike Rowell, Clinton Kervin, Chris Kervin, Josh Kervin and Zachary Kervin.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Kervin, Steven Kervin and James H. Kervin, II.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations   to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
