Interment followed at Providence Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Luther Compton; two children, Robert Matthew (Michelle) Compton and Elizabeth Marie (Randall) Spears; two grandchildren, Lauren Marie Compton and Scott Andrew Spears; and two brothers, Terry Lee and Gary Lee.

Marcia was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, a loyal friend and loved Jesus with all her heart. Her greatest joy was taking care of her family and her greatest hope was to see all her loved ones make a profession of faith.

Her dream was fulfilled in May when she was able to see her grandson baptized. She was sweetness and innocence, always putting others before herself, never complained and never a cross word.

Marcia raised her family in Gautier, MS, was a member of the Gautier Garden Club and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gautier, where she served on the Flower Committee, Baptismal Committee and the Lord’s Supper Committee.

Marcia favorite bible verse was John 3:16 and in her most painful moments she sang “Jesus Loves Me” softly to herself.

In her last hours, the many lives she touched was evident with the visitors she received, all ages, all backgrounds and all ethnicity.

Many commented that they considered her as a mother figure. Even the many caregivers she had at the hospital spoke of how loving and beautiful she was, even though she was experiencing her most difficult moments.

In this most difficult moment, her family thanks God for blessing them with her for so long.

They rejoice and celebrate with her, knowing she is with her King. Written in her bible: “ Don’t worry about anything! Pray about everything! Thank HIM for all things!
