Council alters December schedule

The Greenville City Council voted Monday night to alter its December meeting schedule.

The Council normally meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, but do to the Christmas holiday, it will meet on the second and third Monday in December to avoid meeting the day after Christmas.

The Council’s December meetings are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 and 19 at City Hall.

In other business:

* The Council approved the following expenditures:

– A payment of $2,654.24 to McKinley Tire for eight 11R22.5/14 BRS M711 steel tires, mount and valve stems for Street Department truck No. 22.

– A payment of $1,400 to the Alabama Department of Transportation for 2012 advertising fee for Sherling Lake Campground signage on Interstate 65.

* The Council also announced the city’s holiday schedule. City offices and departments will be closed Dec. 26 in observance of Christmas and Jan. 2 in observance of New Year’s Day.
