The Greenville Police Department has arrested a Montgomery man on three counts of theft of property.

Authorities arrested Cory Lamar Toney, 29, on Oct. 21 for stealing approximately $1,200 worth of merchandise from Walmart during three separate incidents.

“We had video of the suspect, and were able to work with an informant who happened to know a guy in Montgomery that was able to give Sgt. (Kenneth) Hadley some more information that led us to a community corrections program in Montgomery,” Lt. Justin Lovvorn said. “We showed the lady in charge of the program a photo and she was able to identify the suspect for us, and told us when he’d be at the program again. With that information we were able to come back and make the arrest.”

The GPD also made an arrest involving a string of vehicle break-ins.

A juvenile was arrested and charged with eight counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

“We made a pretty good hit on this one,” Lovvorn said. “This isn’t the specific suspect we were looking for in connection with some other vehicle break-ins, but he was operating in the same area.”
