Clara Ellis Johnson, 48, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at her home in Montgomery, Alabama. For over a year, Clara faced cancer with courage, dignity and grace, and was sustained by her unwavering faith in Christ. She enriched so many lives with her gentle spirit, compassion, and unselfish caring love and was the ideal wife, mother, daughter and sister. Family and friends will forever treasure the special times she shared with them.
Clara is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 26 years, Jerry William Johnson; her children William Ellis Johnson and Joana Casey Johnson; her mother, Mrs. John H. (Rose) Ellis; siblings Eric Ellis (Patricia), Joana Ellis, and Hense Ellis; niece Martha Todd ; nephew Eli Ellis; and numerous in-laws and cousins. Clara was preceded in death by her father, John H. Ellis.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, October 17, from 5-7 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Deposit, AL. A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Melvin Warren at Myrtlewood Cemetery in Fort Deposit, AL on Tuesday October 18 at 11 am, with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home, Greenville, AL directing.
Paulbearers will be John Bender, Buster Carlton, Edward Craig, Lee Golson, David Moorer, Wade Nolan, and Ricky Ward.
