In the next few months, the Waffle House will be demolished at its current site and rebuilt, Christy Bozeman, recording secretary with the planning commission, said.

“They came to the planning commission to receive a development plan approval on August 1,” Bozeman said.

The plan is to demolish the existing Waffle House and rebuild a new one that will be the exact same size at the same location. However, the new Waffle House will meet the American Disabilities Act standards.

“They plan on demolishing the building at the end of October and early November, and it will take 90 days from start to finish,” Bozeman said. “That Waffle House is one of the older ones in Alabama.”
