While Crenshaw Christian ran their way to victory last week, the Cougars used a more balanced attack to claim a 54-12 win over Abbeville Christian this week.

“I think we played a good game offensively,” said head coach Roland Jones. “The defense gave up a few mistakes in the secondary, so they were able to throw the ball on us, but overall it went well.”

Quarterback Gunnar McCollough had 127 passing yards and two touchdowns, but despite moving the ball through the air, the bulk of the Cougars’ offense came through rushing.

CCA had 33 rushes for 332 yards and six touchdowns.

Of those, McCollough had over 120 yards and four of the touchdowns, while Will Moses and Gavin McKenzie had the others.

“Gunnar threw the ball well and Austin Brown and some others had some good catches for us,” Jones said.

Defensively, Justin Williamson was the leading tackler with eight, while Rann Smyth had five tackles.

The Cougars face a challenge next week against Class AAA Macon-East.
