The Greenville Police Department has arrested a 19-year old in connection with a recent string of vehicle break-ins.
Kelvin Scarver was arrested Aug. 29 and charged with nine counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, seven of which occurred inside the Greenville City limits.
“This investigation has been going on for a few months now,” Lt. Justin Lovvorn said.
According to Lovvorn, the majority of the break-ins occurred near Steel Circle. After a break-in on Burger Street, authorities got a break in the case.
“We got some information from an informant that led us to the suspect’s residence,” Lovvorn said. “The owner of the house gave us consent to search the home and we found some of the stolen property in the suspect’s room. From there we got a warrant and were able to go and pick him up. When we brought him for an interview we were able to link these cases together. During the course of the interview Sgt. (Kenneth) Hadley was able to get him to confess to some of the other cases.”
